Official 1499 Story Premise and Timeline
Spoiler notice: This guide summarizes officially published story premises, character dossiers, and timeline references released by KONAMI prior to game launch.
According to KONAMI's official introduction, Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is set in 1499 medieval Paris. Monsters appear as the city burns, with a threatening castle at the center of the crisis.
The official timeline links these events directly to the legacy of Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse:
- Twenty-Three Years Ago: In the late 15th century, Trevor Belmont and his companions defeated Count Dracula after his army of monsters plunged humanity into despair.
- Three Years Later: Count Dracula temporarily resurrected, revealing that his soul was indestructible.
- Twenty Years Later (1499): Darkness begins stirring once again in Paris. Trevor Belmont travels down the River Seine alongside his daughter, Rose Belmont, responding to a call for help from the burning city.
The narrative follows Rose as she is swept up in the dark conspiracy lurking beneath Paris. While darkness stirs in the city, the official materials do not confirm Count Dracula's in-game confrontation structure or story outcome.
The Four Central Characters
KONAMI's official character portal provides official background profiles for the four core figures in the narrative:
1. Rose Belmont
Rose leads the adventure as a young vampire hunter. Trevor is her father, and Dracula's curse marks her right arm. Her equipment extends beyond the whip to other weapon types. Abby Trott provides her English voice.
2. Trevor Belmont
Trevor's victory over Dracula belongs to the story's past, 23 years before the Paris setting. He carries Vampire Killer and accompanies Rose along the Seine after Paris asks for aid. His English actor is JB Blanc.
3. Sypha Belnades
Sypha is Rose's mother and fought Dracula together with Trevor. KONAMI connects her background to Dracula's curse and places her death shortly after Rose's birth. The loss affects both father and daughter. Her English actor is Alejandra Reynoso.
4. Count Dracula
Dracula rules his castle as an immortal vampire king. His temporary return three years after Trevor's victory establishes the survival of his soul; the biography then moves forward 20 years to darkness gathering in Paris. His English actor is Graham McTavish.
